I was ushered to a room – bunk beds with limited space and a connecting bathroom.
With the room presented to me on the day of setup, I had to figure out quick on how to dress up the room. It was cosy, just felt a bit tight when more than 4 people were in the room. I had some selected merchandise displayed for sale and more oil pastel works on the wall and in standing frames. It was a bit hilarious to maneuver within the narrow walkway when I had quite a number of boxes with me. Someone commented that I had “SO MUCH STUFF“.
The setup took me longer than expected since I was late despite saying that I would like to come in earlier. It was all rushing when setting up – I had to focus on it before I could go all hanging out and chit chat with others. Phew. It was stressful, and I made it alive.
I managed to finish some oil pastel works eventhough I didn’t manage to spray-fix it with a layer of “protection”. I was amazed with myself also for managing all these myself including quite a few large cut out quirky flowers and mushrooms in foamboards as decorations. Pretty proud of it. The oil pastel artworks are an exploration for me: discovering the medium, trying on different surfaces and matching colours. I used alot of reds, yellows and whites.
My family dropped by too since they were in KL during the weekend.
Overall, it was a pretty chill event and I was surprised and touched when guests dropped by for me I felt so loved and so so so very uber happy that people like my works – I’ve always been the worse critic to myself as I felt like I wasn’t really good enough and you all who came made my day! Met Shafiq and his spouse as well for the first time since we only knew each other online prior to this! It was a good chat~
Thank you everyone who came
On another note, I realised that MoMo’s KL didn’t put up any writeup, press release or documentation of the event on their social media – I wonder why?
